Missing magic

You always felt like something was absent in your life. Something vital and true that went missing long ago and left you a little empty inside. Every time you hear the calliope sound of a circus or carnival, your pulse quickens, your senses sharpen, but you always find an excuse to avoid those sorts of venues. You have a life, after all, a very busy one, with no time for such frivolous whimsy.

Once every eight years, the fantastic Witchlight Carnival touches down on your world, bringing joy to one settlement after the next. Its owners, Mister Witch and Mister Light, know how to put on a good show. But there’s more to this magical extravaganza than meets the eye!

​The carnival is a gateway to a fantastic Feywild domain unlike anything found on the Material Plane. Time has not been kind to this realm, however, and dark days lie ahead unless someone can thwart the dastardly schemes of the Hourglass Coven.

What to Expect

  • This roleplay-heavy, combat-light adventure path takes characters from level 1 through level 8.
  • That does not mean combats are easy; most are deadly, hence the desire to find non-combative solutions to problems.
  • Leveling up is done via story milestones.
  • Characters will use the latest ancestry-based build process.
  • All standard published WotC races and classes will be available.
  • The campaign will use standard and custom backgrounds.

Logistics

  • The campaign begins with a free, mandatory session 0 on Thursday, January 6th, 2022. 
  • Games will continue weekly 8pm-12 (East Coast US). Estimates right now place this campaign at 20-30 sessions.
  • Seats will be 25usd per person per session paid via a PayPal subscription.  
  • All players in my active games receive unlimited access to everything DNDBeyond offers via my Legendary Tier subscription. That means all published books and materials are legally free and ready for your perusal; new materials are always available the second they launch on DNDBeyond.
  • Games will be played using Foundry VTT hosted on The Forge VTT with sound provided via Discord and Syrinscape. 

Player/DM Expectations

Be polite to your fellow players and GM, Wheaton's Law Applies, "Don't Be a Dick." But let's go into specifics:
  • Be punctual. Excessive absenteeism will result in removal from the group. Your teammates and the ongoing story rely on you.
  • Have access to a stable microphone and Discord. If you need help setting up Discord and getting connected to our channel, message me.
  • Do your best to eliminate background noise; Push-to-Talk is an excellent solution. Examples of background noises include dogs, babies, sirens, screaming relatives. (No one wants to hear that.)
  • A fun, safe place to play; Racist, sexist, homophobic, or other intolerant behaviors are not welcome. Everyone deserves to sit down at the table and have a great time.

About the GM

​Online I go by the handle CrashGem. I've been playing and Game Mastering D&D and other Tabletop games for over 27 years. I was a play-tester for 5e and have been playing it since release. I am very well versed in the rules. I've been using Roll20 and FVTT for a combined total of over seven years. As a graphic artist, I often create custom miniatures, maps, and materials for the games I run.
